Liquid culture mediums are a group of culture mediums that are completely liquid, and the main purpose of these mediums is to provide nutrients and materials needed for the growth of microorganisms as well as human and animal cells. Due to the different materials used to make the cultivation medium, the conditions of their use and maintenance are different. As a result of receiving heat and moisture, the liquid culture medium can be easily contaminated by bacteria or decomposed. For this reason, the liquid culture medium should be kept in a cold environment (refrigerator) and also away from moisture.

Non-liquid culture media are usually solid or semi-solid. In solid cultures, agar is usually available in concentrations of 1.5-2.0%, which causes the structure to harden and become solid. Media containing agar becomes solid at 37°C. Sometimes other solidifying agents may be used instead of agar. But currently, almost all existing culture media use agar. Solid culture media are used to cultivate microorganisms (such as bacteria and fungi) in their complete physical form. These environments are also used to check the characteristics of bacterial colonies. Famous solid culture media are:

In this part of the Aria Gene Company website, we will introduce the types of widely used culture media and the applications of each of them. The number of culture environments that exist is very large. For this reason, the list that can be seen below is not a complete list, and tons of efforts have been made to introduce the most widely used types of cultivation environments for your service.

Nutrient Agar culture medium: It is obtained from the combination of 2-1.5% of agar substance with broth. This culture medium is the basis for the preparation of all kinds of solid culture mediums such as Chocolate agar and Blood agar. Nutrient Broth culture medium: This medium is the basis for most culture mediums. And it is prepared from meat extract. Its preparation method is similar to nutrient agar. Since agar is not in liquid form, it is prepared in a test tube.

Blood Agar culture medium: Most microbiological samples are prepared in this medium. The reason is that this environment supports the growth of hard-to-grow bacteria. The stability of blood agar medium in the refrigerator is about one week; Of course, if its water evaporation is prevented, this stability increases.

Chocolate agar culture medium: The base culture medium of this culture medium is heated and after Sterilization adds to that blood. The high temperature of the culture medium destroys the red blood cells, which causes the culture medium to darken. In this environment, there is a lot of food and hemoglobin (caused by the destruction of red blood cells), which provides the basis for the cultivation of bacteria and cells.
